ISO 10848 (all parts) specifies measurement methods to characterize the flanking transmission of one
or several building components. This document considers only laboratory measurements.
The measured quantities can be used to compare different products, or to express a requirement, or
as input data for prediction methods, such as ISO 12354-1 and ISO 12354-2. However, the measured
quantities Dn,f, Ln,f and Lne0,f only represent the performance with the dimensions for the test specimens
described in this document.
This document is referred to in ISO 10848-1:2017, 4.5 as being a supporting part of the frame document.
It applies to Type B elements as defined in ISO 10848-1, such as suspended ceilings, access floors,
light uninterrupted façades or floating floors. The transmission from one room to another can occur
simultaneously through the test element and via the plenum (if any). For measurements made according
to this document, the total sound transmission is determined and it is not possible to separate the two
kinds of transmission.

ISO 10848 legt Messverfahren zur Bestimmung der Flankenübertragung eines oder mehrerer Bauteile fest, die in dafür ausgelegten Prüfständen oder am Bau durchzuführen sind. In diesem Teil von ISO 10848 werden nur Messungen im Prüfstand betrachtet.
Die gemessenen Größen dürfen für den Vergleich unterschiedlicher Produkte oder für die Formulierung einer Anforderung oder als Eingangsdaten für Vorhersageverfahren wie ISO 12354 1 und ISO 12354 2 herangezogen werden. Die gemessenen Größen Dn,f, Ln,f und Lne0,f repräsentieren jedoch lediglich die Leistung in Abhängigkeit von den Maßen der in dieser Norm beschriebenen Probekörper.
Auf diesen Teil der ISO 10848 bezieht sich ISO 10848 1, 4.5, da er ein unterstützender Teil des Rahmen-dokuments ist. Er gilt für leichte Bauteile, wie Unterdecken, aufgeständerte Fußböden, leichte durchlaufende Fassaden oder schwimmende Fußböden, entsprechend der Definition in ISO 10848 1. Die Übertragung von einem Raum in einen anderen kann gleichzeitig durch das zu prüfende Bauteil und über den Hohlraum, sofern vorhanden, erfolgen. Bei nach diesem Teil der ISO 10848 durchgeführten Messungen wird die Gesamtschallübertragung ermittelt, und es ist nicht möglich, die beiden Übertragungsarten getrennt zu erfassen.

This document (EN ISO 10848-2:2017) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 43
"Acoustics" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 126 “Acoustic properties of building
elements and of buildings” the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2018 and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by April 2018.

This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 10848-2:2006), which has been
technically revised. It also incorporates the Technical Corrigendum ISO 10848-2:2006/Cor. 1:2007. The
main change is that the normalized flanking equipment sound pressure level has been introduced and
it has been indicated that this document applies to Type B elements.
