Environmental declaration - Part 1: Wires, cables and accessory products - Specific rules

IEC TR 62839-1:2014(E) specifies the PSR (product specific rules) for wires and cables used for communication, data, control and command. This PSR covers the use, installation and end-of-life stages and provides methodological precisions to PEP/PCR writing for "wires and cables and accessories products used for communication, data, control and command. PSR and general rules all together form the product category rules. Three categories of wires and cables are covered:
- communication and data wires and cables, which may have metal or optical fiber conductors;
- control and command wires and cables, which can have metal or fiber optical conductors;
- accessories.
This document only deals with the "wires and cables" products. "Accessories products are for further study. This document is primarily intended for:
- environment and/or product managers;
- LCA (life cycle assessment) experts in companies, in charge of PEP/PCR development;
- verifiers in charge of PEP/PCR conformity assessment in accordance with the defined rules.

Electric vehicle conductive charging system - Part 23: DC electric vehicle supply equipment

IEC 61851-23:2023 applies to the EV supply equipment to provide energy transfer between the supply network and electric vehicles (EVs), with a rated maximum voltage at side A of up to 1 000 V AC or up to 1 500 V DC and a rated maximum voltage at side B up to 1 500 V DC.
This document specifies the EV supply equipment of system A, system B and system C as defined in Annex AA, Annex BB and Annex CC. Other systems are under consideration.
This document provides the requirements for bidirectional power transfer (BPT) EV supply equipment for system A, with a rated maximum voltage at side A up to 1 000 V AC or 1 500 V DC. The requirements for reverse power transfer (RPT) and BPT for system B and system C are under consideration and are not specified in this document.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2014. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) the structure has been rearranged according to IEC 61851-1:2017;
b) electrical safety requirements in Clause 8 and Clause 12 have been revised based on the requirements in IEC 62477-1 and inspired by the hazard based safety approach of IEC 62368-1;
c) test methods for checking conformity to the stated requirements have been mostly added; general provisions for compliance tests have been specified in Clause 102;
d) specific requirements and/or information for the following functions have been added: energy transfer with thermal management system (101.2), bi-directional power transfer control (Annex DD), multi- side B separated EV supply equipment (Annex FF), and communication and energy transfer process (Annex GG);
e) Annex AA (system A), Annex BB (system B) and Annex CC (system C) have been updated including additions in conjunction with b) and c). This document has been limited to be applicable to system A, system B and system C;
f) the former Annex DD and Annex EE have been deleted. A new Annex EE, with the requirements for the artificial test load, has been added.
g) a new informative annex for the touch current and the touch impulse current (Annex HH) has been added

IEC 61851-24:2023, together with IEC 61851-23, applies to digital communication between a DC EV supply equipment and an electric road vehicle (EV) for control of conductive DC power transfer, with a rated supply voltage up to 1 000 V AC or up to 1 500 V DC and a rated output voltage up to 1 500 V DC.
This document also applies to digital communication between the DC EV charging/discharging station and the EV for system A, as specified in Annex A.
The EV charging mode is mode 4, according to IEC 61851-23.
Annex A, Annex B, and Annex C give descriptions of digital communications for control of DC charging specific to DC EV charging systems A, B and C as defined in IEC 61851-23.

Electricity metering data exchange - The DLMS®/COSEM suite - Part 6-1: Object Identification System (OBIS)

IEC 62056-6-1:2023 is available as IEC 62056-6-1:2023 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 62056-6-1:2023 specifies the overall structure of the OBject Identification System (OBIS) and the mapping of all commonly used data items in metering equipment to their identification codes.OBIS provides a unique identifier for all data within the metering equipment, including not only measurement values, but also abstract values used for configuration or obtaining information about the behaviour of the metering equipment. The ID codes defined in this document are used for the identification of:
- logical names of the various instances of the ICs, or objects, as defined in IEC 62056‑6‑2:2023;
- data transmitted through communication lines;
- data displayed on the metering equipment, see Clause A.2 in Annex A.
This document applies to all types of metering equipment, such as fully integrated meters, modular meters, tariff attachments, data concentrators, etc.
To cover metering equipment measuring energy types other than electricity, combined metering equipment measuring more than one type of energy or metering equipment with several physical measurement channels, the concepts of medium and channels are introduced. This allows meter data originating from different sources to be identified. While this document fully defines the structure of the identification system for other media, the mapping of non-electrical energy related data items to ID codes is completed separately
This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition of IEC 62056-6-1, published in 2017. This edition constitutes a technical revision. The main technical changes with respect to the previous edition are listed in Annex B (informative).

Conductors of insulated cables

IEC 60228:2023 specifies the nominal cross-sectional areas, in the range 0,5 mm2 to 3 500 mm2, for conductors in electric power cables and cords of a wide range of types. Requirements for numbers and sizes of wires and resistance values are also included. These conductors include solid, stranded and Milliken, copper, aluminium and aluminium alloy conductors in cables for fixed installations and flexible copper conductors. This document does not apply to conductors for telecommunication purposes. The applicability of this document to a particular type of cable is as specified in the standard for the type of cable. Unless specified otherwise in a particular clause, IEC 60028 ED4 relates to the conductors in the finished cable and not to the conductor as made or supplied for inclusion into a cable. Conductors described in this document are specified in metric sizes. Informative annexes provide supplementary information covering temperature correction factors for resistance measurement (Annex B) and guidance on dimensional limits of circular conductors (Annex C). This document has the status of a horizontal publication in accordance with IEC Guide 108.

Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 122: Particular requirements for commercial washing machines

IEC 60335-2-122:2023 deals with the safety of electrically operated commercial washing machines, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single phase and 480 V for other appliances.
These appliances are not intended for household and similar purpose. They are used:
- by experts or instructed persons for commercial washing in areas not open to the public, for example on farms and in hotels, hospitals, restaurants and canteens; or
- by laymen in areas open to the public, for example launderettes and communal laundry rooms.
The electrical part of appliances making use of other forms of energy is also within the scope of this standard.
These appliances are designed to be connected to hot or cold water supply.
Appliances making use of steam or hot water for heating purposes are also within the scope of this standard.
As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by these types of appliances. However, in general, it does not consider young children playing with the appliance.
Attention is drawn to the fact that:
- for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements can be necessary;
- in many countries, additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour, the national water supply authorities and similar authorities;
- in many countries, additional requirements are specified for appliances incorporating pressurized parts;
- for appliances having additional functions (e.g. drying function), other standards are also applicable.
This standard does not apply to:
- appliances designed exclusively for industrial purposes (ISO 10472-2);
- appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas);
- washing machines appliances for household and similar use (IEC 60335-2-7).
This part 2 is to be used in conjunction with the latest edition of IEC 60335-1 and its amendments unless that edition precludes it; in that case, the latest edition that does not preclude it is used. It was established on the basis of the sixth edition (2020) of that standard.

Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-4: Particular requirements for spin extractors

IEC 60335-2-4:2023 is available as IEC 60335-2-4:2023 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 60335-2-4:2023 deals with the safety of:
- stand-alone electric spin extractors, and
- spin extractors incorporated in washing machines that have separate containers for washing and spin extraction
for household and similar purposes that have a capacity not exceeding 10 kg of dry cloth and a drum peripheral speed not exceeding 50 m/s, their rated voltages being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances including direct current (DC) supplied appliances and battery-operated appliances.
Appliances not intended for normal household use but which nevertheless can be a source of danger to the public, such as spin extractors intended to be used by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms and spin extractors for communal use in blocks of flats or in launderettes, are within the scope of this standard.
As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the reasonably foreseeable hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons. However, in general, it does not take into account:
- persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capabilities; or lack of experience and knowledge prevents them from using the appliance safely without supervision or instruction;
- children playing with the appliance.
Attention is drawn to the fact that:
- for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements can be necessary;
- in many countries, additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour, the national water supply authorities and similar authorities.
This standard does not apply to:
- appliances intended exclusively for industrial purposes;
- appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas).
This eighth edition cancels and replaces the seventh edition published in 2021. This edition constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) alignment with IEC 60335-1:2020;
b) conversion of some notes to normative text (20.103, 20.104, 22.101);
c) addition of test probe 19 for accessibility of live parts and moving parts (8.1.1, 20.2);
d) addition of accessible surface temperature limits (11.3, 11.8);
e) specified operating conditions for battery operated appliances (B.11.1).
